I believe that everyone benefits from counseling. Having a person who is vested in helping someone understand themselves is empowering. By building trust and rapport, the therapeutic relationship also builds and progresses. I believe we need to first understand ourselves to create a stronger sense of self which leads to confidence, increased coping skills, and awareness. I have worked within the counseling community since 2008 in a variety of settings, from adolescents in residential settings, in homes and schools with families and children and inpatient hospitalization. The belief that everyone has their own story to tell is so important. I am here to listen.
As each person is unique, therapeutic methods vary that work best for each individual. I have extensive training and experience with psychotherapy (talk therapy), recreational therapy, groups, play therapy and trauma-focused interventions. I specialize in Sandtray Therapy, where the brain and hands are able to tell stories that sometimes our words cannot.
My goal is to assist my clients and their families as they improve coping skills, acceptance and social skills through self-exploration and practiced interventions. I enjoy working with ages 6 and up..
